An online business is a great way to start your first business.
But is it the best way? Only way?
I know it is weird that I am contradicting myself since this site has been all about helping people to start their online business. However, I fear I may be unwittingly perpetuating a very restrictive thinking.
A business is business, is there really a need to specifically call it an “online” business?
Yes, Internet has made starting a business a lot easier. However, the last time I checked, a business is still about providing a product or service that people want or need. The internet did not change business per se. It just made it easier for businesses to connect with customers.
It might be hard for some to believe but there are many successful businesses today that doesn’t really have or need an online presence.
Food for thought: Just the other day, my kitchen was about to be flooded by a busted water pipe. No, I did not have to google for a plumber because on the front doors of my refrigerator, you will see fridge magnets that have contact numbers of various handyman services left there in case of days like this. And when I went outside the house to close off the main water supply, there was a sticker on the wall beside the main water lever that say “plumbing services call this number”.
Best Way to Make Money Online ver. 2.0
A lot of people have asked why this site is weirdly renamed the imperfect start blog. If you have read some of the kickstart post here, you might already glean some insight. But what you probably don’t know is that this site started out kinda wrong.
I was guru inspired in the wrong way. After spending thousand of dollars attending seminars by gurus promising easy money on the internet, I came out of it, pretty convinced that the easiest way to crack the make money online mystery was to actually sell the idea of making money online.
Which clearly is NOT the case!
Thus the need to rename this site. Yes, this site does make enough to pay rent which makes it kinda problematic. For people who think they have “no idea” about what kind of business to start, they might be wrongly inspired to start yet another make money online site like this one.
The intention here is to dissuade. Especially if you think your issue is the “no idea” bit.
“I don’t have an idea.”
Unless you live on a deserted island your whole life with no connection whatsoever to the outside world. Which is unlikely if you are reading this.
When you say “I don’t have an idea”, it’s kinda like saying you are waiting for that guaranteed to work magical idea to land on your lap.
Unfortunately, ideas don’t just happen to you. You find them. It will take some work too but there are many ways you can excavate potential ideas, test it to see if it will work.
It doesn’t even have to be brilliant!
We can hardly get through an hour without using some form of product or service, and I am pretty sure not all of it are “revolutionary big businesses” like Facebook or Google.
Don’t sell yourself short. Is there something you are good at? Or maybe a problem or frustration that has been bugging you? Just these 2 questions alone should easily net you 10 to 20 potential business ideas.
However, ideas won’t work themselves…
